Mr. J. A. Da-lgetty, who lias purchased Mr. Si Ison’s glass and chi naware business, announces in this issue that commencing on Thursday, 27th inst., lie will hold a sale to make room lor new .stocks to arrive from Home. The public of Hawera and surrounding districts are notified that the sale of surplus military stores will be closed finally on Saturday next, 22nd inst. Air. W. it. M-cKernan takes this opportunity to apologise for not holding the carpet sale as advertised on August 8. but has- made definite arrangements to hold, a -sale in the billiard room at the rear of George and Doughty’s, on Saturday, August 22. Watch for the red flag. The second sale in fifteen years indicates that AH A. H. Shaw’s “e’ean sweep” sale, which commences to-mn-r----rc.w at 9 a.m., is not an every-day •v’lortunity for shoppers. Prices published in yesterday’s issue of the Star speak for themselves. B. P. Morrissey and Co. will sell by public auction to-morrow (Thursday), at 1.15 p.m., furniture and sundries. In to-day’s issue Airs C. Steer announces that she has taken over the Carlton Dining. Rooms, which have been in the past conducted by Air and Airs W. Hoddle. Airs Stec'r, who formerly conducted the Home-Made Cake Shop in Union Street, is already favourably known to the public. ' •T. C.
