PERSONAL ITEMS.
Mr W. P. Russell, who is well known in racing circles in Taranaki, has been appointed liandicapper to the Waikato Hunt Club. He already handicaps for the Waikato Racing Club. Ail old colonist named John Page, 93 years of‘age, who arrived in New Zealand in 18(52 from Victoria in search of gold, died at the Palmerston North hospital on Sunday. He was a native of Ireland, and bad lived for the last 25 or at) years in Terrace Street.
Mr. T. P. Hugh son, jr., of Opuna ke, met with a, very painful accident on Saturday. He was in the act of cranking up his motor car when it “kicked,” the crank handle breaking the arm above the wrist. At a conference of Reform delegates from portions of the Huninui electorate held at Amber ley yesterday afternoon, Mr. J. G. Armstrong was selected as the party’s candidate for the seat, which* is at present represented in Parliament by Mr. G. W. Forbes (Leader of the National Party).

Davison, publicity manager- of Paramount Pictures, is at present in Hawera in connection with “The Ten Commandments.” Mr. Jules Omer John Malfray has been nominated by Victoria University College, Wellington, for the Rhodes Scholarship of 1925. He is aged 23 and is a Master of Laws. He is a Wellington Rugby representative, for , five years has been a ’Varsity Rugby (blue, and prominent in other'’depart- ■ merits of athletics.
