Mr W. P. Russell, who is well known in racing circles in Taranaki, has been appointed liandicapper to the Waikato Hunt Club. He already handicaps for the Waikato Racing Club. Ail old colonist named John Page, 93 years of‘age, who arrived in New Zealand in 18(52 from Victoria in search of gold, died at the Palmerston North hospital on Sunday. At a conference of Reform delegates from portions of the Huninui electorate held at Amber ley yesterday afternoon, Mr. J. G. Armstrong was selected as the party’s candidate for the seat, which* is at present represented in Parliament by Mr. G. W. Forbes (Leader of the National Party).
