HAWERA HOSPITAL BOARD.

* MONTHLY MEETING. Further business, as detailed below, was transacted at the ordinary meeting of the- Hawera Hospital Board yesterday i NEW HOSPITAL. Tiie architects (Messrs Duffill and Gibson) reported that good progress was being made with the works, and that materials were well up to specified •bandard. and that a certificate for progress .payment was issued for £5173, making the total to date £30,153. The specifications for heating equipment had not been received from the Department. The designs for foundation stones had been approved. So far the exact cost of the .salutary blocks could not be given, as the contractor had not yet- received the indent cost. 1 There was, however, ample time for making a decision in the matter. It was resolved that the Hawera County Council rates for th>o years, totalling £47 9s od be pai ns per statement sent.

A request from the Eltliarntorough Council for* the stationing of f ambulance at Eltham was discussed.t some length, and it was decided at-, in view of the fact that Eltham aid be reached so easily and quickly fin- Ha-*-vera, it was not justifiable to iiirr the expense necessary for another ambulance. It- was added also that urses when requii-ed could be secured £once by teleplione. Inquiry showed th, apparently only two trips were to Eltham” during the past twelv<ei®^hs»> It was resolved to confirm of-Mi* Tayler in affording texnpary assistance to a familr at Eltham. A circular prepared by the secreta in regard to X ray fees was con side re showing that reductions had been mac. in the original scale. —-It was resolve to adopt the new scale of Fees. In regard to a notice from the Department that local bodies not paying levies promptly must he charged interest, it- was resolved that so long as the levies wore paid iu a- reasonable time the board would not approve tlio suggestion. The chairman said they had no desire to harass the local bodies.
