The Hawera land Carnival committee met again last evening, when it was decided that- the carnival be run on a financial ba.su> of two-Ibirths to the Hawera citizen*-’ Band, and onethird to the taweia Pipe Band, up to amount of £I2OO. 1 . Representatives of the Scottish Society •attempt the meeting, and in order to allw. them to vote on the question of .whether or not a baby queen carnval should be run in preference to *>, queen carnival, the original inotiotf stipulating a queen carnival was rescinded: The decision of the votinj. however, again favoured a queen canival. A comiittee consisting of Messrs. Hawkins Laureiison, Jones anti the secretary with power to add, was appointed V wait on the Maoris with a request bait they nominate a “Queen.” It wf also decided that a. ladies’ meetiiqbe held in the Borough •Chambers nTt Tufi-iday at 3 p.m. and that Mrs. licey be asked to take the chair. Theoriginal motion fixing the clO'S--1 n tr (Ite of nominations for queens veas jso rescinded and Moiulay, Alight 3»t, at 5 p.m. fixed instead. Otar detail* in connection with ar-ratrementr-i for the carnival were attend to before the meeting closed.
