CROWDS ATTACK THE POLICE

The trouble at Tientsin broke out following the efforts of a number agitators to cause non-striking mi workers to walk out. Police guards, reinforced bv the military; went to the mills All the afternoon the strikers paraded until the temper of the crowds became very ugly. Stones were thrown at the police au<l attempts were made to rush the mills. These culminated in an attempt to rush the police and military cordon or guards, who then fired. Eye-witnesses state that about two hundred shots were fired. The crowd dispersed immediately. The situ Jit ion at present is quiet.—H enter.
