The Argus states that the Eltliam Band Committee has decided to disband. At the Lyttleton Magistrate’s Court yesterday, seventeen members of the crew of the steamer Willaston were charged with impeding the progress of the ship’s voyage by refusing duty. The case: against the chief cook was taken first. The master of the vessel said the crew had behaved well since leaving Home, but they refused to go to sea because six men lie had engaged in New Zealand were receiving a higher rate of wages, and they wanted to be placed on the same- level. The cook was convicted and ordered'to forfeit seven days’ pay. Notice of appeal was given. Subsequently a settlement was reached between the masj ter and the men, and the remaining charges were withdrawn.
