The letter emceeing the application pointed out that there we.e 119 families residing in the district and in the neighbourhood of the proposed school. There were some 278 children living there and of these 159 were going to other schools. The proposed site was 2£ miles from the Hawera school and 2jinnies from Normanby school. The members of the Board were all agreeab.e to the proposal. The proposed site, which is on. the corner of Glover and Waihi Roads, is an Education reserve at present leased, the lease expiring in six years’, time. It would therefore be necessary to open negotiations with the Crown Lands Department.
