FRUIT TRADE.

VALUE OF ORGANISATION. THE NEW ZEALAND MARKET. 1Y CABLE—PEE 33 ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Aug. 11, 1.50 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 11. , 11. G. Such,, sales organiser for the New South Wales Citrus Association, who lias recently returned from NOW Zealand ; stated that lie had come tb the conclusion that the' present system 61 marketing by individual growers and speculators resulted in considerably lower returns than would be obtained by proper regulation of supplies and the export only of high class standardised fruit. He gave as an example one firm which secuied fifteen per cent more for its fruit than was secured by shipping to New Zealand under the old method. Mandarin and orange growers had also secured substantially increased returns. The greatest compe. tition New Scuth Wales had to meet in New Zealand was tli© common oranges largely grown in the Cook Islands. Shipping and marketing, however, was unsatisfactory. Mr. Sncli expects that the export to New Zealand this season’ will be from fifty to seventy-five thousand cases ol New South Wales oranges. H© considers that, to a great the sale arrival of oranges depends upon the skill and attention of the ship’s staff, and instanced two shipments made under exactly the same conditions. Both were carried on the deck, hut on 6 was covered and the other uncovered. The former arrived in - splendid conditionhut. the latter was badly soaked with water.
