Nurse Wise, who was for some time associated with Dr. E. Gunn as a mem_ her of the Schools Medical Service, has relinquished her appointment in order to take up that or nurse-instructor at the ante-natal clinic, Auckland. Mr George Rowe, borough ranger and inspector to the Eltham Borough Council, has accepted a similar position with the Clifton County Council. There were 24 applicants for the position. Mrs Sutherland Ross, president of the women’s section of the exhibition, has received through Her Excellency, Lady Fergusson, information that the Queen has been pleased to forward two gifts to Dunedin as a token of her interest in the New Zealand and South Seas International Exhibition. Many friends throughout Taranaki will learn with regret the news of the death at New Plymouth on Sunday of Miss C. M. Hamerton, of Inglewood, daughter of Mrs and the late Mr L. AHamerton. of Inglewood. She was well known and popular in Inglewood, having taken a keen interest in choir affairs at St. Andrew’s Church, and also in the golf, tennis and croquet clubs. Deep sympathy will he felt by friends up and down this coast. Mr T. MePhillirs, of New Plymouth and formerly of Manaia, went through by mail train this morning to Wellington. TTis brother. Mr F. McPhillips, is in hospital and undergoing an operation in Wellington to-day. Their many friends in this district will hope to hear good nows of the latter.
