A FATAL MISTAKE

John Standen Robinson, a,n old-age died at the hospital as a result of taking a liniment in mistake for a cough mixture.

HAPPENINGS IN HAMILTON

HAMILTON, Aug. 10. A married woman, the mother of 10 children, was admitted to the Waikato Hospital suffering from a severe wound in the throat, supposedly selfinflicted. The woman had been in indifferent health for some _ time. Her condition is somewhat serious, but recovery is anticipated. A young man named McColl, .who had been out of work for some was rescued from a pond adjacent to the river in a state of collapse. .He was removed to the Waikato Hospital.

CHEMIST IN TROUBLE

AUCKLAND, Aug. 10. A chemist, whose name was ordered to be suppressed, was charged at the Police Court that about December 1, 1924, he forged the name of A. Gillan in a retailer’s opium book. The police stated that the accused was using far more opium than any other chemist in Auckland. When he found that proceedings were pending he skipped to Wellington, and was ar-’ rested on a boat leaving for Sydney. The accused ivas remanded, bail of £2OO being allowed. POLITICAL. The in. i mates escaped in their night attire. The adjoining premises of H D. Admore had a narrow escape, hut good work bv a bucket brigade succeeded in saving them. The building was of wood and an old landmark. The insurances were £2OOO on the building and £SOO on the furniture.
