Tentative dates have been drawn up by the Cricket Control Board for the New Zealand tour. They are as follows: , Nov. 28 and 30 —v. Northern Districts, at Newcastle. Dec. 4, 5 and 7 —v. Queensland, at Brisbane. Dec. 11 and 12—v. Goulburn, at Goulburn. Dec. 15 and 16—v. Wagga, at Wagga. Dec. 18. 19 and 21 —v. Victoria, at Melbourne. Dec. 28 and 29 —v. Smith Australia, at Adelaide. Jan. 1,2 and 4—v. New South Wales, at Sydney.
ENGLISH COUNTY COMPETITION
(Received Aug. 10, 2.15 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 9. Hampshire beat Somerset by 10 wickets (Mead not out 80). Kent in the first innings made 349 for eight wickets, declared (Harding 83, Woolley 118). Sussex in the first innings made 196 (Watson 53). Marriott took five for 64 In the second »iiiings the side made 136. Freeman ■bok five for 53. Kent won by an iiiTiings and 17 runs. Essex in the first innings made 98. Sibbles took three for 17 and Watson four for 26. The second innings produced 184 for seven wickets. Lancashire in the first innings made 202 for seven wickets, declared (Sharp not out 58). Eastman took four for 45. The match was drawn. For Gloucester against Middlesex, Parker took six for 120. The match was drawn. For Warwick against Glamorgan, Partridge took five for 56, and for Glamorgan, Ryan took five for 72. Warwick won. For Derby against Northants, Morton took five for 89. The match was drawn. Rain generally interfered with the play.—Reuter.
