UNEXPECTED REDUCTION. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. I (Received Aug. 7, 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 6. The reduction of the bank rate to 4j per cent is due to the satisfactory gold position. It was very unexpected onthe Stock Exchange, and the markets all round are improving.—Reuter.
