THE ROYAL SHOW.

BIG DISPLAY AT CHRISTCHURCH. The. second Royal (N.Z.) Agricultural Slow is to be field iu Christchurch this year on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, November 11, 12 and 13 next, and very elaborate preparations are in train to make this the biggest agricultural and pastoral show which has ever taken place in the Dominion. Certainly the venue is a most attractive one, for the show will be held during Carnival Week, when the whole of Canterbury gives itself over to pleasure, there being an orgy of racing and trotting events and other carnival features besides the show. .Visitors to the Canterbury Agricul•tural and Pastoral Association’s Show Grounds, where the Royal Show is to be held, will be astounded at the remarkable improvements that have been effected there during the last year or two. Among the erections are: New sheep pens, with reinforced concrete .posts; a new grandstand; a complete new railway siding; a permanent band stand; the laying of about 25 chains of water pipes through the sheep pens, pig pens and l accommodation paddocks; the removal of the secretary’s office to a more central site, and the installation of electric light throughout the whole of the grounds. There, are also nearing completion a cattle pavilion in reinforced concrete at a cost of over £6OOO, and a new building containing bar and luncheon room on the ground floor and sleeping accommodation for one hundred attendants of stock. Altogether the new improvements have cost the Canterbury A. and P. Association something like £22,000. Entries for the Royal Show close as follows with the Show Secretary, Mr G. G. Denniston, P.O. Box 200, Christchurch :

Applications for space for implements, machinery and New Zealand manufactures, on Saturday, October 10. General entries on Saturday, October 17. Application for space for side shows on Wednesday, November 4.
