EVENTS IN BRITAIN. 11V ('ABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPY RIGHT LONDON, August 3. The weather was showery for the bank holiday. The King and Queen attended the opening of tiie Cowes regatta. The King, sailing on hoard his own cutter, the Britannia, finished fourth behind 'White Heather, the winner of the principal race. There were 50.000 at the Wembley Exhibition before the lunch hour, when the turnstiles leg.stored 40U0 hourly. There were great crowds at other holiday places. Hundreds s’ept on deck chairs on the seashore owing to boardinghouses being overcrowded. Unfortunately there were many accidents. due to the excessive traffic on •'■e roads. Fourteen fatalities have already been recorded.
