A deputation from the New Zealand Co-operative Herd Testing Association at Hamilton recently asked the Minister for Agriculture for a. Government subsidy of Is per cow. The Minister has intimated that the Government cannot see its way to give a subsidy, on the ground that much herd testing work is being done by the department and others quite afiart from the association. and if a subsidy were given' to one body it would have to he given to the others as Well. Apart from thisthe question is involved of the extent to which the Dominion revenue should b© used to assist individuals to improve their income.
