At the annua 1 meeting of the Hawera Co-operative Dairy Company, Mr W. te.d. chairman of the works commit■e in the course of some remarks lea ling with the working of the factories, called attention to the necessity > n the part of suppliers or guarding igainst the introduction of water into milk. He pointed out that after a light’s rain the quantity of milk often increased to an appreciable extent, the* result being that the vats were liable o overflow, entailing wastage and consequent loss of yie'd. He further stressed that water contained no butterfat, and as its presence in the milk necessitated a certain amount of unprofitable labour in dealing with the whole jupply, a verv desirable improvement would he effected if suppliers would take steps to ensure it was not introduced from outside sources. Professor G. Salt, lecturer and de'monstrator in phvsics at the Auckland University, has "been elected to be representative of the licensees on the Radio Broadcatsing Board. He polled 1382 votes. Mr F. Holland (Wellington) polled 363, and Mr L. _ Slade (Christchurch) 342 _ (states a Wellington Press Association message). The body of Dr. Alexander Joseph Mcllroy was found floating in the hnr’•o"r at Dunedin on Saturday. At 7.15 on Friday night lie went for a walk to Black Jack’s Point, Ravensbourne. He tripped and fell into the water and was drowned. At an inquest a verdict of accidentally drowned was eturned.
