SMUGGLING IN CHINESE.

Indications that a widespread conspiracy exsits with the object to introduce Chinese immigrants into Australia on borrowed birth certificates were round when a raid was made on Chinese premises by the pobce and Customs officials it is believed that a number of Chinese have entered o n birth certificates, the original owners of which are long since dead. Local interpreters refused to translate the seized documents, but enough was decipherable to show that the headquarters of the syndicate was at Hongkong, with agencies at Singapore and all Australian ports. Genuine birth certificates fetch as much as £250 to suit Chinese between the ages of 20 and 30. No trouble was experienced in getting immigrants like the photograph attached to the passports.
