government programme } MUST BE FINISHED FIRST. (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, July 31. Mr Potter, member for Roskill, put an urgent question to the Prime Minister in the House of Representatives to-day asking if his attention had bee n drawn to a paragraph telegraphed by your correspondent in reference to the' e’ections. It was, he declared, suggested by the Liberal Party that the Government was rushing the elections for October, so as to spring a surprise on the Liberal Party. Could they reconcile this with their attitude in prolonging the debate? Labour members: “Rot. Sit down.” Liberal members : “Nonsense. Don’t be silty-” The Prime Minister replied that he would be glad to read the paragraph. The Government’s programme was to complete the work it had set itself out to do, and he sincerely hoped the House was with them i n this connection.
