In view of cabled reports reflecting in some degroe on the behaviour of a section of the visiting American fleet and possible misgivings on the part of nros.r>?ctive hosts, the Mayor (Mr H. L. Tanley) cab’ed to the Lord Alayors of Svdnev and Melbourne. The former replied that the conduct of all ratings .was exemplary. The latter repVed that he was surprised that such baseless statements had been circulated. From personal observations their conduct had been most exemplary.
