ESTATE OF W- G. TRILFORD

A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of William George Till lord, farmer, of Ohangai, which was to have been held this afternoon, lapsed for want of a quorum. Debtor’s financial statement showed unsecured ere ditons’ claims totalling £1433 3s 7d, but there was a guarantee against W. Savage, of Ohangai, and W. H. Trilford, of Kaikohe, for £275 of Hie amount owing to A. C. Pease. Unsecured creditors were as follow: Crown Lands Department, £300; A. G. Pease, £1050; Bennett and Sutton, £l7 12s 7d; Curtis and Spragg, £6 Gs; Dr. MoGliie, £3l; Dr. Buist, £4 4s; Dr Thonnson, £1 Is; E. W. GiHanders. £23. Debtor's written statement to has creditors was as follows: —‘‘1 went on to the Ohangai. farm in 1021. .1 put in £l3O and took over the stock and chattels at £IOSO. The Government advanced me £750 and Mr. A. O. Pease, £275. 1 was paying £6 an acre rent when the slump came. 1 asked for a reduction of rent from Mr. E. J. Harrison, my landlord, but 1 cannot say whether it .hais ever been granted or not., My cheques have all been collected by Mr. Pease with the exception of 20 per cent., which went to the Crown. In spite of my best efforts 1 got steadily deeper in debt, and instead of owing Mr. Pease £275. 1 found myself in debt to him for £IOSO. The farm was sold up by the mortgagee last November, and the new owner refused to grant me a lease. J therefore asked the Crown, to realise on its security. My wife has obtained financial help and is carrying on the farm.”

In reply to questions by the D.0.A., Mr. L. A. Taylor, solicitor for the bankrupt, said that Trilford was a good worker, but his obligations had been too heavy. Debtor was a returned soldier.
