The President of the Primary Producers’ Union has offered the service® of twelve thousand men in maintaining the continuity of shipping services anti the prevention of stoppages, in the industry. The president stated Dial his union had no desire to join issue with either the seamen or ship-owners m the dispute, but as thousands of members at the union were dependent on the maintenance of shipping eonrmunic-aition lot the necessary commodities' of life, and the conveyance of their product to the markets, they were not going to stand idly by anti see those districts affected strangled while the dispute was being settled.

In answer to* Mr. Wars he's offer, the Prime Minister (Mr. Bruce) replied that the matter had been referred to 'lie Commonwealth Shipping Board. Mr. Bruce .says he considers that if Tasmanian produce is held up that i>~ a matter for the Tasmanian Government.
HOBART, July 29.*
The Premier has stated that the Government will immediately charter a steamer to carry fruit which ils held up owing to the strike' to the mainland. The fruit-growers had also arranged to despatch .steamers with fruit for Sydney. '
