HAWERA VISITS WANGANUI
WIN SEAFIELD CUP.
At the week-end Hawera Men’s Club sent a . team to-Wanganui, and played matches with the Belmont (Wanganui) Club and the Seafield Club. The first four players in the team played, m conjunction with the match against Seafield, a challenge for the Seafield Cup, a trophy presented by Mr Runnerstrum, a vice-president of the club. This is open to four players from any club who issue a challenge to the holders and play them on their own course. It was presented in 1924, and so far four challenges' have been withstood by the Seafield team —Belmont (twice), Manawatu and Feilding. The matches played under the conditions —match play in conjunction with medal scores. Hawera was represented by Quin (2), O’Callaghan and Dale, and the result was as follows: L. Quin beat J. Goss, J. Quin beat W. Williams, O’Callaghan lost to J. Hussey, and Dale beat Slierriff. ' . The cun was formally presented to the leader ,of the team , and l in order that golfers may see it is on exhibition in Bennett and - Sutton’s window. It is a fine trophy, and the winners are entitled to credit for their fine play.
