Without arriving at any choice, the Anglican Synod at Christchurch on Friday morning terminated the special session, held with a view to choosing a successor to Bishop Julius. The responsibility of making a choice has been delegated, to three members of the Synod. A special meeting of the Wellington City Council was held yesterday to discuss the question of the purchase of a •road roller. A. motion to rescind a resolution previously carried agreeing to purchase an American roller was debated at considerable length. On a vote being taken, the number for and against was equal. The Mayor (Mr Norwood) gave his casting vote to adhere to the original decision, but said an opportunity would be afforded the representative* of an English roller to see if a British-made roller couhl be delivered in the time stipulated.
