The Daily Express says: The visit of Major-G enerail Ashmore to Gibraltar for the purpose of organising the air defences of that base again raises the question whether, .assuming Spain is willing, Britain should cede the Bock in exchange for Ceuta, a fortified poit, belonging to Spain, on the coast of Morocco opposite Gibraltar. Experts point out that Gibraltar is no longer a secure base, as modern howitzers, firing from the Spanish mainland, could prevent ships entering the harbour.
