PORTS FOR DAIRY PRODUCE.
SIX TO BE, DECLARED. SERVICES TO BE EXPEDITED. It is understood that the Dairy Control Boand’s scheme for deahng with the dispatch of dairy produce will include the declaration of six main torts for the Dominion, and that these will be North: Wellington, Auckland, and New Plymouth. South: Lyttelton, Port -Chalmers, ami The Bluff. Under the scheme, which apparenfy cannot ctme into operation for two years, at which date present contracts for shippng expire, faster produce boats wil be required, so as to ensure a fortnightly service, taking from 35 to 37 day for the journey to London. Mr H. D. Forsyui, of Eltham, a member <f the Control Board, in conversation with, a Star representative, said that important changes were pending concerning the declaration of the ports is mentioned. He also added that in cmnection with the scheme a decision would practically be made to open an ofice in New Plymouth to deal with prod ice from Taranaki. In regari to Pate a, however, he said he unctersood' shipments would continue to bemade via the southern port as a feederto Wellington, and that, so far as he knew, -no alteration, would he made in the present arrangements at Patea.
