ONE MAN MISSING

t\ CAHLE—PRESS ASSOOI VTION’—COPYRIGHT SYDNEY, July 20. . An explosion occurred at ..the Kothbury colliery, near Cessnock, early this morning. There were only two men in the mine at the time, Booth Symington, the pumper, and William Crisp, a deputy. Symington was rescued unconscious, but an exhaustive search failed to reveal any trace of Crisp. The explosion was so severe that it blew out one oi' the stoppings, demolishing a sixty feet brick wall A gang of proto-men searched all the morning for the entombed man, but the air was so bad . that they were compelled to leave the mine, which will I>e sealed.

There is little hope of finding Crisp alive. So far there are no signs of fire. The explosion occurred 809 yards from the mouth of the tunnel.
