GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETS. The "0116101 committee of the Egmoii't A. and P. Association met on Saturday afternoon, when there were present: Messrs. •£>.• 0. lonks (chan), F. Gillanders, G. H. Washer, E. AV Washer, H. Middleton, R„ McCav, B, C. Gibson, A. Haseltine, B. C- - ' Ly.saght, H, E. Johnson, D. S, Richardson, J. E. T. Short-, J. D. Scott, A. Hunter, H. Finlay, J. Forbes, A E. Dearth. W. iVIcX/Dowiei and .A.. LankO'W. The/chairman, for the. grounds committee, said that there, had been 21 ap- explications for the position of care- , . taker, and' tihe committee appointed tortile purpose recommended that Mr. S.- - H. Williams, of Tokaora, be appointed. ' On the motion of Messrs. Haseltine and Richardson it was decided to- approve of the -appointment-. Messrs. F. Gillanders and J.-.D. Scott were appointed . a canvassing. . ; conunittee to canvass for special prizes. The chairman mentioned tli at the art union committee would submit a full report- at the next meeting. "■ It was decided to write thanking. .; Mr. Arnold for, his past-, .services in connection with the- pig section at the show. ' Votes of thanks were accorded Mr. Middleton for the donation of a pie-.-ture now hung in the'board room, and . the Farmers’ Co-op. for selling free of . , charge timber of a- total value of £lO9. A number of euggestioivs' by' the stewards lor improved arrangement and •handling of classes, and.sections at the forthcoming show, were, discussed and aproved, in some cases -being added to‘. A The distribution of luncheon ticketswas again discussed, Mr. Hunter moving -that no complimentary luncheon * tickets be issued to exhibitors aiid attendants, but that the associatidli adopt the MnstentoiT' Association's method of selling books of tickets to exhibitors. —The motion ivas seconded. The chairman said lie would like to see the other Taranaki AV and P. societies consulted in the matter, but. ■ Mr. Hunter thought that H-awera should act on its own. Mr. S. H. Washer thought that the , scheme would he all right if the other three -societies adopted it, but it would u ; ho. too big a risk for. Hawera to take the initiative. Mr. E. A. Washer suggested that Hie association charge Is per head,,no. ... matter what it cost the association. . Mr. J. Forbes pointed out that they, were trying to get the association out / of debt, and lie did not think that . anyone would grumble at having to p , pay for a meal. , Mr. Middleton moved as an amendment, and Mr. H. Finlay seconded, that the matter lie referred to the cbm s. ■' fcrenco of Taranaki associations. , ■■■ Mr. Hunter said he would oppose the amendment,' as lie considered that the Egmont Association should be -•' game enough to tackle the matter itself. The .secretary, in reply to a questiori, said that last year complimen-' tary luncheon tickets,cost the .associa- . ; tion £53. . 1 ... After further discussion the amendment was carried.
