(From Oar Own Correspondent). HAND CONCERT. The Manaia Municipal Bra.s s Band, under Conductor Cosgrove, p'ayed a line programme in tlie Rotunda on Saturday. There was a large and appreciative audience. The hand is steadimproving in its playing. HIBERNIAN BALL. The grand annual Manaia Hibernian ball, which is to be he'd in the Manaia Town Hall on Wednesday night, will eclipse a 1 previous functions held by the society. The committees, which have been working very hard for some time, have every detail "ell in hand. As the ball is considered one of the best held in South Taranaki, there is sure to Ik; a record attendance. Visitors are expected from a'l parts of the province. Al| who attend are assured a real good evening's enjoyment, for a first-class orchestra, an excellent supnor and a good door have been provided lor. FOOTBALL. W Inmate Juniors and Pa tea Juniors iried conclusions at Manaia on Saturday. and Pate a suffered a severe defeat by 37 points to nil. Tries were secured by W. Sutton (4), King. Hansen (2), Griffen. Of these Rei converted two and kicked a penalty goal, while L. Hughes converted three. The goal-kicking of these two men were worthy of special mention. Wqimate, m both divisions, played with good udgfnent and combination. Pa tea had hard luck on one or two occasions. They very nearly scored and some of their individual players showed up well. Mr V. Hadley ably controlled the game. Opunake High. School played Manaia 'Tish School at Manaia. on Saturday. Opunake being defeated by 20 points to 5.
