PLUNKET SOCIETY.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Plunket Society was held in the Plunket .Rooms on Tuesday, July 14, at 8 p.m. There were present: Mesdames Goodson (chair), Jobson, Bone, Haggett, Davy, Bates, Goodwin, Morris, Winks, Hunter, Godfrey, Tait (treasurer) and Miss King (secretary). An apology wa s received from Mrs Pacey. A vote of sympathy with Mrs Graves in her recent bereavement was passed,. The balance-sheet of the Winter Shbw effort, presented by Mr AY. Jobson (act-ing-treasurer) was laid before the committee. It showed the following items: Hbop-la, £ll6 os Kid; collections at showground gates, £24 19s 5d ; collected by nurse, £1 9s 6d; contribution box in rooms, £3 13s 4cl; ■ tota] proceeds placed in bank, £146 8s Id. The effort was very satisfactory, and the committee is very grateful to all who gave gift s nnd to al] those who so willingly helped in making it such a success. A letter was received from ,the Rotary Club, enclosing checpie for £BO Is 6d, on account of the appeal recently made by the club on behalf of the Plunket Society Binding Fund. It lias still a further amount of £2O odd to be collected. The committee appreciates the servito rendered by the Rotary Club in/aid oF the building and furnishing of the new Plunket Rooms.

The shop day held during the month was a great success, and the committee wishes to thank all who gave so generously towards it, especially Messrs Nixon and Hail ton for the gift of a sheep, which, with the guessing competition, greatlv increased the day’s takings; also Hannah and Co. for the use of the shop. The shop takings amounted to £2B 17s. The nurse’s report showed: New cases 44. mothers and babies to rooms 679. visits to homes 366.

The following subscriptions were received : Mrs MdGhie £1 Is, Dr. and Mrs Thomson £l. Mr and Mrs Bone £l. Mesdames G. Douglas. G. Hay ton, R. Kemp, H. G. Brodie, C. H. Barker, H. AAY Jackson, AY. Dymond 5s each ; a Triend, car fund. 12s. Accounts to the amount of £247 15s 8d were passed for payment,.
