ELTHAM GOLF CLUB.
SUCCESSFUL BALL. The Town Hall at Eltham was filled last niglit on the occasion of the annual ball of the Golf Club. This has always been a popular gathering, and last night’s function was considered to be the best yet held. A striking scheme of decorations was made by an energetic committee, organised by Messrs L. and J. Quin and the Misses Quin. Right in the centre of the ceiling was suspended a prettily made bell, surrounded by a line of col. oured balloons, and from this as a centre radiated streamers of blue and red to; every part of the lar<j;e hall. The design was set off to advantage by the pretty stage and wall decorations of greenery of all kinds. The whole made a pretty picture. The lighting effects, too, were admirable, and served to complete a scheme that was a distinct credit to all concerned in its arrangement. The supper was controlled by a ladies’ committee, every member providing a part, and this combined to make an ex. eellent spread. The music was in the hands of Newberry’s orchestra, and its excellence was the theme of much favourable com. ment. thoroughly apreciated by the large company of dancers. This, combined with a capital floor, ensured enjoyment for all. The general details were carried out by the hon. secretary, Mr E. Bary, aiid his committee. The assemblage included visitors from Stratford, Hawera, Opunake and New Plymouth.
