Mr J. AV. Andrews, builder, has been unanimously selected as Liberal-Labour candidate for the Masterton seat.
Air T. C. Stunners lias been appointed to the Egmont Licensing Committee to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mr F. Guy. At the meeting of the Tlawera branch of the Plunket Society on Tuesday afternoon a vote of sympathy with Mrs Graves in the loss of her husband was passed. Mr Jarnc-s “Watson, conductor of the Lithgow Brass Band (NIS.W.i has been appointed conductor of the Wanganui Garrison Band, and is expected to arrive in AVanganui next week. New s has Deen received of the death of Mr J. M. Speed, of AVanganui, who was fatally injured in a motor accident in Paris. The deceased gentleman, who resided on Durie Hill for some time prior to leaving on a world tour, was an old resident of AVestem Australia, where he had a big legal practice, and was at one time Attoi;neyGeneral of that State.
