LOWGARTH.

SUCCESSFUL CONCERT. One of the most successful evenings yet held in Lowgarth was the verdict of all who attended the Hall Society s concert last night. Special arrangements had been made with a concert party from Stratford, and they gave u programme of which the audience showed such approval that encores were the order of the evening. The hall, brilliantly lit with the electric light recently installed, looked its best. A temporary stage had bee'll erected by the committee, and tills proved of much assistance to the performers. The new seats, made by voluntary labour, were used, for the first, time. Altogether all arrangements made combined to ensure success. Just prior to the opening of the programme, Mr F. Willan, chairman of committee, briefly introduced the performers. The programme was as follows: — Songs: Miss Taylor, “Harlequin” and “Parted,” encore, “Dawn”; Miss McCormack, “Farewell” and “Break o’ Day” (encore “Brother Sunshine”); Mr Taylor, “Santa Barbara,” “By the Waters of Minnetonka” (encore “Nancy Lee”). Vocal duets: Miss Taylor and jVlx* Edmondson, ‘‘The Wind and the Harp” ; Messrs Edmondson and Taylor, “The Moon Hath Raised.” Monologues: Miss Cooke, “Just Her Way” (encore “The, Usual Way”). Recitations: Airs Rowe, “Airs Gollop on Hamlet,” “The Waybacks” (encores “The Hairdresser and “A Financial Career.”) Flute solos: Air Dick, two numbers, bofrt encored. Air Dick played obligatos to several of the songs, and the accompaniments were played by Miss Cooke and Mi* Edmondson. The programme was heartily appreciated by all presept. At the conclusion of the concert refreshments were handed round, and then the floor was cleared for dancing, to the capital music supplied by Airs Johnson, of Fltham. The general arrangements were jn the capable hands of the hon. secretary (Air A. A. Piper) and the chairman (Mr F. AVillan), and they were ably assisted by the ladies and by a committee.
