Mr R. Sempl% has been chosen by the Labour Party, to contest the Otaki seat at the general election.
Mr. 'S. G. Smith, M.P., left New Plymouth this morning on -liis return to Parliament.
At yesterday’s meeting of the Egmont County Council a vote of sympathy with Cr. T. H. H. Sinclair in the loss qf his danghter was passed, the council standing in silence. The Education Board yesterday appointed Mr. H. Dempsey as the board’s representative on the New Plymouth High Schools Board, Mr. H, J. Eaves’ term of office expiring on 31st insit.
At the Taranaki Education Board meeting yesterday the members passed a resolution congratulating Mr. P. J. H. White- on his appointment to the Council of Victoria College, Wellington. In reply, Mr. White said he would endeavour fio do his best for Taranaki.
