NOTES ON THE RACING. (By Telegraph.—'Special to Star.) WELLINGTON, July 11. The final day’s racing opened rn gloriout weather before a very large attendance. As only to lie expected, specula, tion was very brisk. The race track was a trifle better than on the preceding days. Many Colours was a good favourite for the Talavera Hurdles, with Trespass, Glenidle, and Kendal backed as written. Puketoi led Treadwell and Peter Maxwell over th e first six furlongs, then Treadwell led for a couple of furlongs. Half a mile from home Hatigan got to the front and led Many Colours, Glenidle, and Peter Maxwell into the straight. Onc e over the last jump Many Colours challenged Haligan and, going on, won nicely from Glenidle, which heat Haligan in the last stride.

Class was not a strong feature of the novice class, for which .Captain W ai was the choice of the bettors. Captain Wai again began well, and led Town Crier, Relic, and He Luxe on to the course proper. Over the last two furlongs a good struggle ensued between Captain Wai and Town Crier, but Captain Wai again finished gamely, to win by a length. Kihniss and Ivilorum did the best of the others. c Scratching.? in the Crofton Hack Handicap reduced the field to eight starters, 'of which Adi Vnnivola had most followers, but both Anticipate and Blue Peter carried a lot of money. Blue Peter began best from Relic and Jubilee, but the favourite was slow to begin. After going two furlongs Whariti moved up to the lead, but Blue Peter again took charge turning into the straight. In the run to the post Cardant and Adi Vnnivola challenged the'leader, but Blue Peter finished well, to beat Cardant, with Adi Vnnivola close up. No lews than eight were s-cratched for the Winter Hurdles, and of the nine >stlarters, Penury Rb.se was a good favourite, bint Comical and Nnkumai were heavily supported. When the tapes rose. Penury Rose went out to the lead, but Comical led over the first jump from Penury Rose, Captain Sarto, Omaha and Nuknmai. There wlais little alteration of film leading division over the first six furlongs. At the stand Penury Rose and Comical were together, followed by Captain Sarto, Nnkumai, Lucullcnt and Lochson. Turning into the back stretch, Penury Rose led ,from Nnkumai and Comical, hut six furlongs from home Comical jumped to the Iroiifc and Vagabond moved up. while Nnkumai retired beaten. Comical led into the straight from Vagabond. Lucullent and Penury Hose. Art the last jump. Comical jumped badly, and once over Lucullent threw out a strong challenge, and <iu a. punishing finish just heat Comical, while Penury Hose, running on well, only beat Vagabond. J/M-b-on was last, and was lame. Arch Salute was a hotter favourite than Passionate for the Winter Oats, with' Alarm and Ivilfane most favoured of the other starters. Hose of Athens rushed to the front when the harrier rose, to lead Lady lien and Alnrie. At the four furlongs post Zircon took charge and let! Lady Ben, .ivilfane, Alarm and Arch Salute into the straight.. Over the final stages Alnrie end Passionate put in good work, Ala-rid just heating Passionate., with Arch iSivlute and Tvilfnno third and fourth. Tuki. .and Ho»ibrook were evenly supported for .the July Steeples, and Hide too claimed solid support as usual. Puwhero went out to make the trace, and led Peter Annans, Titlei and Bonihrook for the first two* miles. Racing to the hade stretch in the final circuit, Peter A.mans took the lead, hut tried to baulk at the next fence, losing quite a dozen lengths. Peter Amnns again took the lead from Thiwltero and. Tnki, with half a mile to l go, and making no further mistakes won easily from Tuki, with First Line

and Pnwhere following at long intervals a Dick baulked.

White ‘Comet was much better 'Supported than Killocra for the Onslow, while there was plenty of money lor Lava and Lady Fingers. When the field had .settled down. Lava was leading from White Comet, Lady Fingers and Koodoo, but Killocra was a dozen lengths away, having met with trouble at the barrier. Tinker rode a cnofident race on White Comet, but over the last hundred yards he called on. that gelding and White Comet, won easily from Koodoo, with Kuhio and Killocra next.

In a pool of over £lO.OllO :n the Kia Ora Hack Rob carried a great deal more than Olympic, the second choice, while Padonna and Beaumont (evenly supported) were next in order ol favouritism. Rob began, very ismartly and led Misw Odille, Beaumont and a bunched! lot to the- course proper. Once in a line for the winning post. Rob looked a likely winner, but Beaumont. Pad o mna and Lucrative challenged, and in a -good race Beaumont ran on best, while Padonna just beat Lucrative.
