CITY A v. OHANGAI. A keenly contested match played on the showgrounds thi s afternoon was that between City A, leaders in the competition and Ohangai. The ground was heavy, and passing coulo not be carried out to any extent. The game, therefore, was mostly confined to the forwards. Playing against the wind, Ohangai made the pace , fast and kept City on the defence for a great part of the first spell. Then, however after a stern struggle, the maroons wept down-field in a great rusli and near the 25 yards line, from a penalty, Loader kicked a fine goal. City A 3, Ohangai 0. Continuing to attack, City kept play on Ohangai’s line till a free kick gave the latter relief and a fine run by Ward took play to centre. Back went City, and from a penalty Loader had another shot and Ohangai forced. Loader headed a dash, but too hard kicking lost a good chance. Ftom a line-out at the corner City, almost went over, and just afterwards Loader marked and had a shot, which also failed. Hinga cleared and play went out at centre. Ohangai got on a strong dasli, but Purser sent them back and, the : full back being collared with the ball*, play went out at the 25.
