Harry AVills, the negro challenger for Dempsey’s title, knocked out Charlie Wie-nert in the second round of a scheduled fifteen round light. AA’ills outclassed AA'einert from the first be l !, and the latter was' finally felled by a right uppercut to the chin.' Previously W ills sunk several mighty blacksmith slams wrist deep in AA'einert’s middle, taking the breath out of AA'einert and making him gasp violently. AA'einert was greatly distressed after the knock-out, and he was carried to AA'ills’ corner, where the seconds of both men worked over him. Wi’-ls, although warned before the ■>-dit against the practice of hugging his man close with his left- and pounding the kidneys with his right, soon had recourse to this violent and painful gesture, at which AA'einert screamed for the referee and the crowd hooted. Weinert wa s slugged clear of the ring during the first round, and was badly punished throughout, AA'ills occasionally hitting low. though warned. GJREB BEATS WALKER. NEW YORK. July 2. Harry Greb retained the middleweight championship, defeating Mickey W'a'ker. welterweight champion, in a fifteen round fight, during which fortunes varied, hut Greb held the upper hand. Greb bad AA alker half uuco-ii-seiouc on the ropes in the fourteenth, and could have put liiin out, but lie was too excited to deliver the finishing blow. The bout was the most thrilling since Dempsey and Eirpo fought at the same park two. years ago. Greb was the aggressor for the .major part of the way. There , were no knock-downs. .Toe Lvnch and Jack Sharkey .fought a draw, and Dave Shade knocked out Jimmy Slattery in the preliminaries.
