ACCOUNTANTS’ SOCIETY.
TARANAKI BRANCH. At a meeting in New Plymouth of the Taranaki branch of the Accountants’ Society, called to consider the question of remits for the annual Dominion conference, Air W. Power, ot Stratford, presided. A iremit- moved hv Afr W. G. AY a klev, of Hawera, to the effect that: “The council draw up a minimum scale of fees for members of the profession,’ was adopted. Air Walkley- stated that several branches had promised to support the- remit. “That the council continue to use its best endeavours to effect a fusion of the various accountancy bodies in the Dominion, and, if it can be done, to apply for a Royal charter,” was another remit which was adopted. Considerable discussion took place on the question of auditing of solicitors trust accounts. A recommendation is to he made that the society confer with tlie Law -Society in the matter. A suggestion to promote a dinner for the branches of the Accountants’ and j.aw Societies was unanimously approved. This was made by Hawera delegates, and was considered a- very good move. It wi-’l be an excellent- opportunity to bring together members of the two professions, when they can talk over maters of mutual interest.
