(From Our Own Correspondent). SOCIAL AT MANGAAVHERO. A farewell social and presentation was held in the Mangawlie.ro hall last Monday night for the purpose of saying an revoir to Air and Airs AY. Blackstocii and family. Air Biackstock was late manager of the Joll’s Mangawhero dairy factory. The evening was spent in song and dance. Air E.- Chapman, chairman, in making the presentation, referred to Air Biackstock as a most capable manager during liis several years at Alangawhem, and a ! J suppliers were, sorry to lose him. Air and Airs Biackstock had always been to the fore in all social functions. On behalf of all present, lie presented Mr Blackstock with a. handbag, and wished them long life and happiness in their new home. Air J. AlcCarthy also spoke, and eulogised the good qualities of Air Biackstock as manager, also as a good neighbour, and wished the guests good pick and prosperity in their new home. Mr Biackstock, 'in replying, heartily thanked the speakers for their kind utterances, and all present for their valuable presents. He had always tried to do his best, and that was the most .inv man could do.

During the evening several performers contributed vocal items, and the Misses Mounts danced several Highland dances, and Mrs RusseM gave two vocai items, constituting a programme which was much appreciated. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr and Airs West fold for the* use of the hall, and the function broke up with the singing of “Aukl Lang Syne.” PERSONAL. Mrs 0. Westfold ,'eft Kapuni for Wellington to lie present at the wedding of her daughter l’hvllis. The bride•'ivmii is well known in this district. Air R. Fitzsimmons, late of Auroa. He is well known in boxing circles. BRASS BAND.
