At a meeting ot the New Zealand Football Association Council to-night, the council considered the question of running of preliminary rounds of the Chatham Cup by loea; associations. After some discussion, it was resolved to -forego any financial participation this season in Chatham Cup gates until the semi-finals and filial. Under this arrangement 75 per cent, will go to the local associations, and 25 per cent, to the competing clubs. In regard to. the Brown Shield competitions, the committee reported having considered a scheme along the lines of the Plunket Shield, in which the four major associations would compete, each getting three home matches in two years, in U)2G Auckland would day Otago at Dunedin ; Auckland v. Canterbury, at Christchurch; Wellington v. Auckland, at Auckland; Wellington v. Canterbury, at Canterbury; Canterbury v. Otago, at Dunedin, and Otago v. WeMington, at Wellington. Games would practically be reversed in 1.027. 'The cost to Auckland and Otago would be in the neighbourhood of L'24l), and to Wellington and Christchurch C!4O. Owing to. the big expense incurred by the two association's, it might be advi.sab'e to consider the question of pooling gates. It was decided, on the recommendation of the Competitions Committee, to write to the English Football Association asking that some endeavour should be made to send a team of school boys to New Zealand at some future date, at the same time asking for information r.is to ages, schools, etc. In regard to the now cup which is being sent out by the English Football Association, the view was expressed that if the proposed changes were made in the Brown Shield the new trophy would be adocated to the minor associations.
