MANDATED TERRITORIES.

ADMINISTRATION BY AUSTRALIA. A YEAR’S WORK. BY CABLE—PRESS A SSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received July 3, 10.45 a.m. GENEVA, July 2. The Mandates Commission is considering a report on the administration of territories under the Australian mandate, including Nauru. Replying to interrogations of members of the commission, Sir Joseph Cook detailed the grants of twentyfour leases during the year, and five mineral fields were proclaimed, of which the Morobe goldfield had produced 6500 ounces. Analysing the finances of the territory, Sir Joseph Cook estimated the revenue to be £248,000, a sum slightly below the previous year, though the revenue from taxation had increased by £12,000 during the year. The commission expressed satisfaction with the manner in which the report was drawn and presented., and hoped there would be a continuance of the marked earnestness in administering the mandate in spite of the treaty. —Aus.-N.Z.
