SECRET SUBMARINE.
* GIANT MINE-LAYER FOR AMERICA The keel ot the first mine-laying submarine ever built for the United States Navy was laid at the navy yard at Portsmouth, New Haven, recently. The new vessel will be considerably larger than preceding vessels of tlie V type, but the Navy Department lias not divulged any details of her dimensions, displacement, and characteristics except to say that she will embody many entirely new features, will cost approximately £1,000,000, and will be completed, it is hoped, within two years.
