ROMANTIC BEQUEST.
WEALTHY CALIFORNIAN LEFT £50,000. BLIND GIRL GETS £IO,OOO. A romantic bequest, which one legatee estimates at £50,000. will benent several Derby families, as wed as relatives in Swansea, Durton, Nottingham, and India. The money has been left by a Derbj emigrant who: died recently in California. James Baynon left Swansea nearly sixty years ago for the United States and made a considerable fortune in rice and ranching. He corresponded with member,s of lib family at home and has often sent money to needy relatives. Mr.* Baynon died at the age of 84, and information 'has reached Derby that his niece, Miss Buckland, of Derweiitrow. Derby, who has been blind since a montTi old, is to receive £lO,000 under his will. Other occupants of The house named Hough receive legacies amounting to to be divided among another branch of the familv in Derby.
I n addition to these amounts Mr. Baynon’s will specifies that one of his Californian estates is to devolve to Derby relatives on the death of his widow, his second wife. Mis* Buckland, whb has received greater recognition on occount of affliction. lias been in receipt of assistance from her uncle for several vears. Other beneficiaries include a mother of four children whose Husband died eight months ago, the wife of a wmdmwith a family of eight children and another member of the family who is already making plans for retirement in consequence, of ill-health. ..
