WIMBLEDON TOURNEY. FRENCH DOING WELL. LONDON, June 30. The perfect weather attracted an enormous and fashionable attendance to lhe lawn tenuis' tournament at Wimbledon to-day. j The French continue to carry all lielure them. Anderson had no difficulty to-day in joining the three young Frenchmen. Corbel,’ Roroira and Laces te. in I lie semi-finals. Anderson is now regarded as the only British hope to stem the' French invasion, but it is fancied that he will have a difficult task in heating Liicoste for the right to play in the final. The general feeling is that, the task is too much for Anderson to accomplish.

In Ids match against Fisher, Anderson won most comfortably by 6—l, 6 —l, 6—4. He ran away in the hollowest fashion to five-love in the first set, and even had a lead of 40-30 in the sixth. Then lie conceded Fisher a game before he ran out. Fisher’s only game before the second set was the third, and the crowd began to lessen in view of the foregone conclusion, but Fislier in the third set improved. He led at 2-love. 3-1, and 4-2. Then Anderson by virtue of excellent driving and serving took the next four.

The topic of discussion at Wimbledon was the Lawn Tennis Association’s ban on the projected visit of a party of crack players, including Mdlle.
