AWATUNA.

A RIVERLEA WEDDING

The Mangawliero Road, Riverlea, was the scene of a festive gathering or, Wednesday last, the occasion being the celebrating of a wedding. Ihe contracting parties were Mr. John Arm- i strong second son of Mrs. Armstrong and the late Mr. A. Armstrong, of Anroa Road, Auroa, and Miss Violet Maud Dew, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs W. Dew of the Mangawliero Road. The wedding was solemnised by the Rev. Mr. Solomon, vicar of Kaponga. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, was attired in white morocain and wore the usual bridal veil and orange blossom, and she was attended by Miss E. Gargan and Miss M. Dew as bridesmaids. The former was very prettily dressed in orange morocain, .whilst the latter woe a dress of blue morocain. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. M. Armstrong, as best man, and Mr, L. Armstrong as groomsman. . After the wedding ceremony, which was witnessed by a crowded church, the guests retuned to the residence of Mr and Mrs. Dew, where about 103 guests sat down to an excellent wedding breakfast. The Rev. Mr. >Solo/mon presided and a lengthy toast-list was honoured. Amongst many relatives present was Mr. W. Hew, who. although 75 years, of age, drove his car through from Palmerston North to he present-gut his granddaughter’s wedding. Amidst the heartiest good wishes, and much confetti, the happy couple left by motor for the north, where the honeymoon is to he spent, the bride's going away dress being a blue serge costume, with becoming red hat.
