PARirS, June 28. The Lord Mayor of London was tire principal guest at a civic banquet at Verdun on the ninth anniversary of the blattle of Verdun. M. Poincare, in a speech, said he believed London’s generosity an adopting Verdun was not the demonstration of passing sentiments, but a brilliant testimony to vnsha'ke•able i friendship’ for Verdun’s citizens. He realised that there were sympathies and interests closely uniting the two countries. He therefore toasted the perennial alliance of the Anglo-French peoples.
