A slight railway mishap occurred at Ngaere on Saturday (says the Stratford Post), when a waggon attached to the 10.7 a.m. train from Hawera to New Plymouth left the rails. No damage was done to the track and no one was hurt, but the train was delayed for .some little, time until the waggoji was put back on the line. This operation was accomplished without much difficulty. This train is usually run as a freight, but on account of the excursion arranged because of the Moascar Cup match at New Plymouth passenger cars had been attached. Stratford was reached at 1.15 p.m. instead of 12.7, and so that the train would hot be unduly late on arrival at New Plymouth the goods waggons were removed at this station, and the train was run through for passengers only. It was anticipated that a good deal of the time lost wouldl be made up, and this* action of the department in the interests of the oassengers was greatly appreciated by the latter. The train was well filled with excursionists, and! between 40 and 50 joined at Stratford.
