COAL MINING INDUSTRY.
ANOTHER- OONF'ERENCE SUGGESTED. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. LONDON, June 23. In connection. with the coal-mining crisis, the coal owners, after the interview' with the men’s representatives, intimated that they were not prepared to submit proposals for a new agreement, and suggested that the two sides should meet after .the owners conference on Thursday. The Daily Herald affirms that the mine-owners intend, in the event of no agremeenfc being reached by June 30, to post notices offering to work at revised rates, thus throwing the onus for a stoppage on the miners and preventing their receiving the unemployment insurance benefit. NATIONALISATION REJECTED. LONDON, June 23. The Prime Minister received a deputation from the General Council of the Trades Union Congress which rejected proposal for the nationalisation of mines and minerals, as they thought it would prove more costly than the present svstem.-j
