OBITUARY. It is with deep regret that w© have to record the death of one of the oldest pioneers of Manaia, which took place c his residence, Kaupokonui, on Tuesday afternoon in the person of Air John Young. Mr Young, who was 80 years of age, had, during his residence of Manaia and Kaupokonui of 40 years, been a man who was he’d in high esteem bv all who knew him. He worked as a blacksmith for Air J. J. Patterson for 30 years. His illness was of ‘short duration. Air Yeung'leaves a widow, one daughter (Agnes), and' four ■'ons (James, David. George -andvLawson). One son (JolnO pre-deceased-him some years ago. The deepest sympathy wPI he extended to his widow and family in their sad bereavement by the citizens of Manaia and district.-
