MATCH BETWEEN ALL BLACK TEAMS. (by telegraph—ptisss association. WELLINGTON, June 22. The effort to carry out the proposal for a- match between the 1924 and 1925 All Blacks is apparently not being attended with much success, and with the information already to hand the prospect of the game eventuating now seems remote. While a good set of backs is available, not many forwards lof the 1924 combination have sent in their names for selection, the majority signifying that they- will not be able to participate in the match. j JUNIOR GRADE. WAIMATE V. PUBLIC WORKS. (From Our Own Correspondent). These teams met in the Manaia Domain on Saturday, when the spectators were treated to a poor exhibition of football. ,The lighter Waimate pack proved themselves far superior to their opposing forwards ino ;il] departments ol the game. Of the Public Works team the most prominent were Tippets and Moran in the forwards and Stringer and Morgan were - the mainstay of the backs. Among the Waimate pack Long, Milner, Hughes, Griffen and Hansen showed- up well, and with a little more experience will develop into good play'ers. The backs who did useful work were Snowden and Bloomfield. Waimate kicked off and so6n had their opponents on the defensive, where Stringer put in good work. Hughes secured and carried play to the P.W. line, where he transferred to Milner, who scored. Hughes was unsuccessful with the kic-k. Following a loose scrum in P.W. 25, Hansen secured, and had no difficulty in snoring. Hughes’ kick failed. Rei was trusted with a penalty kick, and added three more points. Very soon after Rei placed another very good goal from an infringement. Waimate had their opponents continually in their 25, and only had passing kept the score down. On resuming after half-time, the blue forwards broke away, and poor bundling bv the PAY. backs lot Nuku in to score an 'easy try'. Rei made no mistake with the kick. The remainder of the game was practically a procession for Waimate, tries being scored by C. Sutton (2) and Hansen, one of which was converted by Hughes, bringing the score to Waimate 28. Public Works 0. Mr W. Bad ley made an efficient ‘referee.
