APPOINTMENT OF RESEARCH, scientist;

The meeting' of the Federation of Taranaki Dairy Companies held yesterclay 0 thoroughly clivscussed \n all its bearings the question of standardising the accounts of dairy factory companies, which has been long debated by those .interested in the industry. The matter had been taken in hand by Messrs,. Leeß, Salmon and Dunc-an, and a, comprehensive statement of accounts was prepared l by them, for submission to this meeting. With a few minor alterations the draft submitted was unanimously approved 1 by the federation, and it will now be submitted to all factories for final (approval .and with a recommendation that' the statement be adopted ais from July 1. It L-s practically certain that the scheme will be In universal use durirjg the coming .season. At the conclusion of the general meeting the applications, fifteen in number, received tor the position of scientist- at- the dairy research laboratory to be set up in Hawera, were opened and considered by the executive.
